SINCE 20 JUNE 1984
The origins of a family journey
Arbecor was founded in 1984 by António da Silva Ramos and Afonso da Silva Ramos. The company began by combining furniture retail with building decoration, with a particular focus on interior and exterior painting of residential, commercial and industrial spaces.
The experience gained in surface preparation, coating application and careful finishing became the basis of a path that expanded into façade protection, conservation and the rehabilitation of built heritage.

From painting to rehabilitation
- 1984
Arbecor is founded
On 20 June, António da Silva Ramos and Afonso da Silva Ramos founded the company under the name Arbecor — Comércio de Móveis e Decorações. Interior and exterior painting played a central role in the business from the very start.
- 1987
Specialising in painting and decoration
On 17 September, the company increased its share capital and adopted the name Arbecor — Pinturas e Decorações, Lda. The change to its corporate purpose, formalised on 7 October, consolidated its exclusive focus on painting and decorating residential, commercial and industrial buildings in support of the construction industry.
- 1998
A stronger family structure
On 23 January, Manuel Fernando da Silva Ramos, brother of the founders, joined the company as a partner. This was accompanied by a further increase in share capital.
- 2003
Licence no. 46485 obtained
In 2003, Arbecor obtained licence no. 46485 from IMOPPI (now IMPIC).
- 2006
External thermal insulation
From mid-2006, at the invitation of Robbialac–Viero, Arbecor set up a department dedicated to external thermal insulation composite systems — ETICS, commonly known in Portugal as «capoto». This step broadened its work on façades, combining its experience in painting and coatings with improving the thermal performance of buildings.
- 2009
A new generation and technical management
On 20 July, Martinho André Alves Ramos succeeded his father, António da Silva Ramos, as partner and manager, also taking on technical management. His experience and professional training helped extend the business into the rehabilitation and conservation of built heritage.
- 2016
A new company name
On 8 February 2016, the company adopted the name ARBECOR — ENGENHARIA E REABILITAÇÃO, LDA.
- 2016
A stronger team and technical management
From 11 July 2016, Arbecor broadened its scope and strengthened its technical team by hiring an architect and site technicians. Technical management became the responsibility of architect Alexandre Maia.
- Today
Engineering and rehabilitation, rooted in execution
Arbecor — Engenharia e Reabilitação, Lda. brings together four areas of activity: engineering, rehabilitation, construction and painting. More than four decades after it was founded, the company still combines technical knowledge, on-site experience and care in every project.
